About the Project

Welcome

At the Prana Project we recognise that yoga goes far beyond the asana or physical postures; it’s a practice of self exploration and awareness, that can anchor us through turbulent times to a sense of connection to all that lies within and without.

We strive to create a supportive and inclusive community space where individuals of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience can cultivate a practice that may act as a guide in navigating that wild and wonderful world. Collectively we are beginning to recognise the vital influence our mental well-being posseses and at the Prana Project we hold this at the core of all we do. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or stepping onto the mat for the first time, we welcome you with gratitude and open arms. This a space for you and all you are.

Meet Margaret

I have been a yoga practitioner for the last six years and took my first steps into teaching in nurseries across the Manchester area post Covid. Teaching for me was a practical way of helping the collective thrive and to not be restricted by all that is seemingly beyond our control. Now situated in the heart of the stunning South West, where endless skies meet staggering tors, it’s definitely hard not to feel ‘connected’ down here.

I’m entirely grateful to be able to be apart of people’s journey into mindful living and it’s such a privilege to meet individuals from all walks of life and find a centred connection with them on our mats. I passionately advocate for wellness spaces being an accessible safe environment that contributes to improving communal support for mental wellbeing.

So come and join me, cultivate a practice dedicated to deepening our awareness, moving with intention and lust for life!

“The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships”

 FAQs

  • While you are always welcome to bring your own equipment, we do provide mats, blocks, straps and bolsters.

  • Absolutely not. Asanas (poses) can be modified for every students unique abilities and needs. Although flexibility is a happy biproduct of a regular practice, it is never an expectation. Physical achievement is secondary to a mindful attitude towards our mind and body.

  • Whatever you’re comfortable in!

  • It’s best to allow food 1-2 hours to digest before we practice as the body needs energy for digestion and if we are expending our energy on our muscle movement in practice, we cannot digest our food properly.

  • Yoga is for us all. If we are young, old, pregnant, living with health conditions, looking for improved fitness, looking for spiritual development, our practices can be applied to all our unique needs. There is no requirement other than simply bringing yourself to a mat.
